You're Paying for Customers and Ignoring Them

By Mick Dalton ·

So, you're spending thousands of dollars on advertising. Excellent. People are clicking, visiting your website and asking for quotes.

There's just one tiny problem. You're not calling them back.

You're paying for customers, then leaving their enquiries to rot in your inbox. If someone asks for a quote, call them. Otherwise you might as well set your advertising budget on fire and warm your hands over it.

Well, now I've got that off my chest.

Why speed beats everything

A person who asks for a quote is shopping right now. They've probably asked two or three other businesses too. The first one to get back to them, properly, usually wins the job. Not the cheapest. Not the best website. The fastest useful reply.

Every hour you wait, that lead gets colder and your competitor gets warmer.

The fix: three habits

  1. Respond fast. Aim for minutes, not days. If you can't call straight away, send a short personal reply that says when you will.
  2. Make it easy to book. Give them a phone number that gets answered, a booking link, or a clear next step. Don't make them chase you.
  3. Follow up properly. Most sales need more than one contact. A quote with no follow-up is a wish, not a sales process.

The bottom line

Clicks are only the beginning. If you want more sales, stop chasing more traffic while you waste the customers you already have.

No excuses.
